Hotel Dawood
Sana’a has few places better suited to enjoying saltah, the city’s lunchtime dish, than the tranquil courtyard of the Hotel Dawood. Tuck into this stew, served boiling hot in a ceramic dish and topped with a fenugreek froth, before getting lost in the warrens of Old Sana’a. Talha St, +967 1 287 270
At Your Leisure
As-Saba’in Park
This huge park in Hadda is packed at weekends, when families from across the city settle on a spot of grass for the day to picnic and play sport. There’s a small funfair near the park entrance – the rides are ancient-looking but still fun – and a few fast food restaurants including Pizza Hut and KFC. Don’t expect peace – loudspeakers throughout the park constantly blast out announcements.
