As-Saba’in Park
This huge park in Hadda is packed at weekends, when families from across the city settle on a spot of grass for the day to picnic and play sport. There’s a small funfair near the park entrance – the rides are slightly ancient-looking but still fun – and a few fast-food restaurants including Yemen’s only Pizza Hut and KFC. Don’t expect peace and quiet – loudspeakers throughout the park constantly blast out announcements.

Military Museum
This is not for the faint-hearted – some of the photographs dating from the North Yemen war in the 1960s are very grisly. The weapons on display are scary, too, but it’s well worth a visit to learn about difficult times in Yemen’s history.
