Atlantis, The Palm
The Lost Chambers suites at this epic new Dubai hotel give a whole new meaning to the phrase “sleep with the fishes”. The Neptune and Poseidon suites are not for the claustrophobic, with floor-to-ceiling glass all that separates guests from manta rays, groupers, eels, sharks and piranhas – not to mention 11 million litres of water.
The suites’ three floors, connected by sweeping staircases, boast spacious living and dining quarters, a dedicated butler service and all possible modcons, although with a jumbo fish tank inches from your bed, you’re unlikely to spend much time with the TV remote. Such marine magnificence comes at a price: a cool AED29,500, and the reservations agent stressed this doesn’t include breakfast. Nevertheless, with underwater views like these, deep-pocketed fish fanciers will have little reason to carp. www.atlantisthepalm.com
